UPP® Tank Risers

UPP® 4" Tank Risers provide a corrosion-resistant solution for mounting spill containers, probe and tank sensor access manways, and venting equipment to the tank top. The non-corrosive, HDPE design keeps the inside diameter free of corrosion, preventing overfill prevention valves, probes, and floats from being damaged when pulled from the tank for regular inspections.

ADJUSTABLE IN THE FIELD

Installations don’t always go as planned. Unlike steel risers, UPP® Tank Risers can be adjusted in the field without the need for steel cutting saws or threading tools. UPP® Tank Risers are field-height adjustable from 83" down to 17". Individual risers, couplers, and threaded termination fittings are cut-to-fit and utilize the advanced electrofusion welding process to bond the riser components.

SIMPLIFIED INSTALLATION

Unlike fiberglass riser installation, UPP® Tank Risers eliminate messy fiberglass grinding, cutting, adhesive mixing, and extended cure times from the installation process. ELECTROFUSION WELDING

UPP® Tank Risers utilize the advanced electrofusion welder and welding process to effectively bond system components together into one, leak-proof system.


1. Connect

After connecting the electrofusion welder and its leads to the riser fittings, the installer presses a single button to initiate the welding process.

2. Weld

The welder calculates the exact settings needed regardless of component type or ambient temperature. Heated coils inside the fittings meld the fitting with the riser.

3. Cool

Once cooled, the simple, safe, and effective welding process bonds the HDPE components into a single, watertight assembly.

UL-971 listed fuel compatibility:
– Motor vehicle fuels typically found in consumer dispensing facilities like gasoline or diesel
including blended fuels with maximum 15% MTBE, 15% Methanol or 30% Ethanol.
– Concentrated fuels such as alternate unblended fuels containing up to 100% concentrations of
Toluene, Methanol or Ethanol.
– High blend fuels with higher than normal gasoline blends with maximum 50% Methanol or 50%
Ethanol.

Grounding

  • The stainless-steel adaptor in the riser assembly connected to the underground
    storage tank (UST) should not require a dedicated grounding (earthing) method
    as it is in direct contact with the backfill material and will not be subjected to any
    static electricity charging mechanism.
  • It is recommended that the drop tube reaching the bottom of the UST is
    grounded (earthed) during filling operations.
  • Grounding the drop tube can be achieved by grounding the metalwork
    connected to the drop tube in the spill bucket. This a good safety practice
    recommendation that applies regardlessof the riser design or material, and is
    recommended in IEC TS 60079-32-1, particularly when using fiberglass USTs.
